Warm wishes
On January 25th, 2007, our Stitchin’ Heaven crew was graced with a new employee, DeLoyres (Day-loray). Now, almost 2 years later, she has decided that it is time for her to retire, and enjoy some time at home with her wonderful husband, Bob. DeLoyres has been a huge asset in our cutting department. As part of a delightful team of ladies (pictured left to right, Sylvia, DeLoyres, and Kathy), she has been steadily cutting away at the blocks of the month, kits, and even pitching in when needed with internet orders.
DeLoyres brought with her a great talent for color, design, and bringing a smile to someone’s day. Though she says the hard part of cutting a block of the month was figuring out what size to cut those little pieces, picking out the fabrics was natural. Of course, how she does it with a warm, welcoming smile will always amaze me. It doesn’t matter how bad her day is going, DeLoyres always has a smile to share and a hug to offer. When I asked around the shop for ways to describe her, I got words like: gentle, kind, meek, genuine, sophisticated, and, a real treat. According to Sandra, her manager, DeLoyres is a delightful co-worker, she brings inspiration to the shop, and is always eager to contribute.
I asked, and got a little information from this wonder-girl. Born on Friday, the 13th, DeLoyres was the oldest of three girls in her family (pictured left to right: DeLoyres & her sisters, Deb and Myra). Then, in June of 1967, she married Bob, and they have 2 daughters, Rebecca and Sarah, and, now, 4 gorgeous grandchildren. DeLoyres, who enjoyed living in larger cities most of her life, now lives in a small town near Quitman. She and Bob bought a home here, and have completely remodeled, refurbished, and redesigned everything about it. She is eager to have more time at home where she can put her designing skills to work in her home, and concentrate on learning to quilt. Shocker, huh? Yes, she is a beginner, but she has made a couple of quilts since working at Stitchin’ Heaven. The first was a rail fence, and her latest was this beautiful Delectable Mountains quilt (pictured).

Her favorite color is purple.
She likes to listen to Neil Diamond! (Yeah!)
She enjoys designing greeting cards.
Her house is decorated in Spanish Mission & browns.

Collects Spanish brown pottery & black/cream butterflies
Thank you, Ms. DeLoyres, for 2 wonderful years! It has been our pleasure, and yes, you have made some very lasting, lifetime friendships. You are a beautiful woman, you are loved, and you will be greatly missed here at Stitchin’ Heaven.
