A Quilters’ Barbeque!

Just another day
at Stitchin’ Heaven!
Don’t let anyone tell you quilting is not full-filling. I happen to know that two things go hand-in-hand…quilting and food. Being in Texas, we celebrate the summer heat … with a barbecue picnic! So, naturally, we hosted our first Sizzlin’ Summer Picnic here at Stitchin’ Heaven on Friday, and, boy, was it good!
We went all out, dressed up for the occasion, got lots of barbecue brisket, sausage, and chicken (of course!). Then we topped that with a large helping of baked beans and potato salad. In true Stitchin’ Heaven style, we added a super-sized table of desserts made by my “sweetly” wonderful Stitchin’ Heaven gals complete with chocolate cake, cherry cobbler, banana pudding, and brownies! Ugh! I feel sick again just thinking about it.
We had roughly 70 ladies (and one man on their 32nd anniversary!). We packed into our classroom, ate ’till we could hold no more, then drew names, and had a fun giveaway. We gave away lots of fun prizes, and one grand prize … a red, white and blue quilt. Congratulations, Sonya! She came all the way from Mt. Vernon, TX (about 40 miles), little did she know she’d return home with this wonderful quilt!
The day was a blast, but after the clean-up and all the work to get ready, was it really worth it? Of course! We had too much fun not to do it. We’ve done several gatherings like this year, and we always have a great time.
On a different note, don’t forget to stop by the website, www.stitchinheaven.com, and check out our latest events and ongoing specials!
Until we meet again, may your days be pieceful! -deb
