Monster Mash Mystery Introductions
Good morning, and Welcome to our Monster Mash Mystery!
I’m so glad that you decided to join us, and I look forward to spending this “virtual” day with you. My name is Niki (that’s me dressed as a witch!), and I will be here to help out. You can contact me at nichole@stitchinheaven.com, or write a post, and I will get back with you just as soon as I can.
The Fun: We’ve got some really fun things planned for today – other than just the sewing – and you are invited to join, but you don’t have to. If you’ve got a digital camera, you might want to grab it, and keep it handy. We’ve got great sales planned throughout the day that you can take advantage of, so get those shopping carts warmed up and ready! I would suggest that you fill your cart and submit 1 order at the end of the day since you may want to take advantage of several of these sales, and this would help to keep my confusion to a minimum. By the way, not all the sale prices will appear correctly in your cart, so, please put “MONSTERMASH” in the comments section, and we will adjust the total to reflect the correct amount before billing.
On Monday, we’ll pull the orders and do our very best to get everything out to you as swiftly as possible.
The Quilt: There are 6 Steps, and we’ll be posting the first at 10:00am, then, another pattern every hour after until the last one posts at 3:00pm this afternoon. The quilt is designed by our very own, Debby Luttrell, and is a really great size quilt at 82″ square finished. Our first ‘clue’ will be the cutting instructions, just in case someone missed them last week, and it will be posted shortly, at 10:00am.
Now, to get us started, and everyone introduced, if you would, please post a comment, give us your name, and maybe the state where you live, and a short “Hello.” All in all, our goal today is to get to know each other a little bit, have some fun, get some great deals, and leave this afternoon with an exciting new quilt project well on it’s way to completion. Those are BIG aspirations, but we’re sure gonna try!
Oh, yeah…Happy Halloween!

Hello and good morning, I’m busy cutting fabric, getting ready to sew this mystery. I needed a nice distraction today and this is perfect. It’s cold and snowy outside here in central Wisconsin and a perfect day to work on a quilt. Couldn’t find a good combination of Halloween fabrics for this, so I’ll be doing it in a Christmas theme instead. Gotta get back to cutting.

I am from Colorado and have shopped with you all for quite a while. A year ago, three of us, attended your retreat. Will be on and off the site today as we have a lot planned. We are still digging out from our 2.5 foot snow. Let’s have a great day!

Hello Everyone!
I’m Wendy from mid-Michigan. I’m off to a good start on cutting (thanks to my stepmother’s purchase of an Accuquilt GO yesterday). Now I just need to get those strips cut down to size. Luckily now, I have an extra hour before sewing starts. Thanks for letting us far-away quilters share in the Halloween fun!

@ Linda – Last because it is sooooo time consuming. The ONLY way I’d do another is if I had a 24×36 steam press. The movies I have watched pressing the fusible to the t-shirt…thought I had a big iron until I realized how long each shirt was taking. My 38 yr old cousin died in Feb of brain tumor. Am making 3 quilts with fronts of t-shirts for his 3 young sons. Am using leftovers to make a 60″ big block Carpenter’s Wheel with 6″ squares for his wife…it’s a surprise. They are looking awesome but time consuming!!!
@ Niki – I use the term “technique sample” vs. UFO. I have over 50 technique samples. I’m trying to use willpower on these 4 t-shirt quilts. LOL. That doesn’t mean I haven’t set aside fabric for this pattern.
@ Portia – As you stitch, may there be many special memories of your mom.

@ Linda – As a side note, if I was doing just one, I’d do another one….it’s overkill doing 4 at a time. I researched a lot of info on the web and combined methods and madness. Definitely fusible, definitely machine quilt over entire quilt…including t-shirts. I took the 3 boys to a quilt shop and had them pick out backing fabric that reminded them of their daddy…deer, fish, and baseballs. So will definitely be a “daddy hug” quilt for each.

I’m here in sunny Arizona. It’s pretty cold–56 degrees. This time of year makes up for the 112 degree summer days. Happy Halloween!

Hi! I’m here. But…
…. when I was gathering fabrics from my stash last night, I didn’t have enough background (even going scrappy) and the quilt shops are too far away. So… I kept out my focus fabric and my others I had already chosen and am working on another quilt. I am happy that I have today to sew something new & different and my fabrics make me happy!
I’ll check in here as the day progresses but try to duck when you sling wet noodles at me for not doing the mystery.
I’m love2sew29 on the flicker group. I’m from NW Illinois where the farmers are grumpy with all the deluge of rain we have had.
